Eight soft-porn actresses paraded near-naked outside a Roman Catholic church in central Manila today in a protest against film censorship. The women jumped onto the ledge of a fountain outside Malate Church clad only in skimpy underwear and transparent raincoats, causing a massive traffic jam as people gathered under the rain to gawk and cheer them.
Sigh. We never have protests like that here. We get nuns painting missile silos with their blood, which, okay, but it's not the same, man.
It might be the next trend, though, so don't be surprised if you see people stripping to their skivvies at the next PETA protest. I dare say it would get them more support than throwing paint on people would.
Oh, and for those of you who were worried, it all ended peacefully:
When police arrived, the women stripped off their raincoats and brassieres, crossed the street and peacefully surrendered their undergarments to the flustered officers.
